He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science from the University of South Alabama. For the past 18 years\, he has been employed with SSAB\, where he currently serves as Warehouse Manager.\n\nMayor McDonald previously served four terms on the Saraland City Council and was elected Council President for three of those terms. Throughout his public service\, he has been guided by the values of leadership\, integrity\, honesty\, and community involvement. His priorities for Saraland include responsible\, well-planned growth\; investing in infrastructure\; ensuring competitive pay and support for city employees especially Police and Fire and partnering with local utilities to maintain clean\, safe\, and reliable services. He is also deeply committed to strengthening education and advancing key drainage and roadway projects such as Highway 158 and Celeste Road.\n\nA devoted family man and Christian\, Joe and his wife of 28 years\, Susie\, are the proud parents of four children: Joe Jr.\, Josie\, JP\, and Lulu. The McDonald family are active members of Fountain of Life Church.
