Huntingdon College Economic & Community Development Scholars Program

The Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce an exciting opportunity to sponsor a local student for the Huntingdon College Economic & Community Development Scholars Program, taking place July 15–17, 2026 in Montgomery, Alabama.

This prestigious, three-day program is designed for motivated high school students who are interested in leadership, community growth, and economic development. Participants will engage in hands-on learning experiences, interactive workshops, and collaborative projects that explore how strong communities are built and sustained. Students will also have the chance to connect with peers from across the region, as well as experienced professionals in business, government, and community development.

Program Highlights Include:
● Open students’ minds to new career possibilities
● Provide hands-on and on-site training and observation
● Allow rising high school seniors to network with and learn from young and seasoned economic professionals
● Spark critical thinking through think-tanks and problem-solving simulations ● Start a flame of understanding regarding the importance of economic and community development 

The Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce will select one deserving student to receive full sponsorship to attend this impactful program.

Who Should Participate
Rising high school seniors with an interest in business, civic affairs, and public service will find this program intriguing and inspirational. Students should have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or above in their high school coursework.

Applications should be submitted to the Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce by April 28th.
