Mayor Joe McDonald

A lifelong resident of Saraland and proud graduate of Satsuma High School, Mayor Joe McDonald has dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He earned a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science from the University of South Alabama. Mayor McDonald has served four terms on the Saraland City Council, including three terms as elected Council President. In addition to his public service, he has been employed with SSAB for 18 years, where he currently serves as Warehouse Manager.

Mayor McDonald and his wife, Susie, have been married for 28 years and are the proud parents of four children. He and his family are members of Fountain of Life Church. His deep roots in Saraland and love for his hometown have shaped his commitment to preserving the strong sense of community that makes Saraland such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.

As Mayor, McDonald is committed to building upon the growth and progress Saraland has experienced over the past decade while maintaining the city's welcoming, small-town atmosphere. A strong supporter of public safety, he prioritizes providing the Police and Fire Departments with the resources and support needed to keep residents safe. Above all, Mayor McDonald hopes to ensure that his children and future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty, opportunities, and hometown feel of the city he has always called home.
